Abigail's Bed and Breakfast

Abigail’s Bed and Breakfast

Abigail’s Bed and Breakfast is focused on providing luxury home style accommodations and a delicious hot breakfast in a spectacular mountain setting. Abigail’s is patterned after the old style English Bed and Breakfast where travelers were welcomed into the homes and cottages of towns people when few inns were available. The traveller would be given a room in the farm house or cottage and welcomed around the breakfast table the next morning. Abigail’s is our home and our guests are treated like family in the old English tradition. The beds are comfortable; the atmosphere relaxed; the food gourmet and delicious. We welcome you into our home!

Jill and Scott Doying own 10 acres on beautiful Malad Summit surrounded by gardens, wildflowers, trees, steams, mountains and canyons. In this lovely setting sits our charming two story Victorian-Country house built in 2010. It boasts large verandas front and back on both the upper and lower floors. Three bedrooms open out to them through double French Doors. Abigail’s Suite has its own private veranda as well as a large private en-suite bathroom with a cast iron slipper tub, marble shower with two shower heads and individual stone vessel sinks. It has a private corner fireplace to warm your heart and bones. The Victoriana is the most beautiful room with four dormers facing north and south, a King size sleigh bed and a large plate glass window facing east. It is full of antiques and nostalgic character and has a 1/2 bathroom with an extra large china sink as well as a quaint private shower room.  The Mermaid Room and the Lady Adelaide rooms are cozy and lovely. Both have antique beds, lovely quilts, wainscoting and French doors leading to the upper veranda shared between them. They also share the upstairs bathroom situated just outside their doors, which features an old fashioned cast iron tub and shower.

We’re sure you’ll be happy staying in one of our lovely Victorian themed rooms. The  beds have a bear friend that you can purchase and the views are spectacular. A pair of slippers will be waiting for the our lady guests as Abigail’s promotes a no-shoes zone. There are also slippers to borrow as you enter. Based on the belief that our guest’s comfort is of the utmost importance. Our family is committed to making you feel at home in our home. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat guests and referrals.

We have a limited number of bicycles for you to rent as you explore this lovely mountain community and the adjacent National Forest. Deer are regular visitors in our back pasture as are other wild animals. The Devil’s Creek Reservoir is only 3 miles away; a great place to fish, swim, water ski or just take in the breathtaking views. Kayaks are available to rent and we’ll haul them to the water for you. Watch our horses run in the wind or the cats chase each other around the yard. Introduce yourself to Max, our 5 pound Yorkie or Atticus, our much larger Rough Coated Collie. Explore Malad and Samaria, two heritage communities settled by the Welsh. Samaria has a number of restored cabins, including Olive Osmond’s birth place; mother of the famous Osmond Brothers.

” Established in 1864, Malad is one of the oldest communities in the state of Idaho. Malad began largely as a Welsh Mormon settlement whose settlers brought their Welsh traditions with them. Malad lays claim to having more people of Welsh descent per capita than anywhere outside of Wales” (Quote from Wikipedia). Malad also has the oldest department store in Idaho; Evans Co-op, established in 1865 Plenty to do, we’ll give you directions to the many outdoor activities we have to offer.
Breakfast is at your convenience unless there are a large number of guests we need to accommodate. We may also surprise you with tea and cookies in the evening. Upon request we’d be happy to have some picnic supplies on hand for you to take with you on your day of exploring. If there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable, please ask. We can’t wait to meet you!
